So FRESH, it’s scary.

Okay, it isn’t scary, but it is the debut track from Isle Of Wight-based, Progressive Hip-Hop collaborative artist/producer, Mind Simulations. A project coined and purveyed by a certain Mr. Jake Taylor.

I first met Jake about six years ago, when I was still living on the Isle Of Wight, pre-university and pre-Bath (Living in Bath that is, I’m a shower man myself). Anyway, I was amazed by his love of music from a variety of genres and it’s safe to say we found some common ground in our love of music.

Now, however, it’s 2015 and under his new musical alias, Mind Simulations, he’s been busy. Apart from playing as a drummer in Progressive Rock/Metal band, When Prophecy Fails and collaborating with artists such ZUU Music (keep an eye on MF for that one), his new project has come to fruition.

The first release from Mind Simulations is entitled, Inception. An Instrumental number, it’s a versatile sounding progressive Hip-Hop track, that could easily suit vocals in a variety of styles but at the same time, stands tall as an instrumental. Anything from various Hip-Hop offshoots and R&B, to soundtrack and background music for media would do well with this involved.

The more I listen to this track, the more I like it. Relaxing, reading, writing, gaming, it didn’t matter what I was doing, it was a more than adequate soundtrack. On a specific note, picking through the wilds of Kyrat on Far Cry 4 with this playing, just works.

I think what I enjoyed the most is the “progressive” nature of the music. Although, it would suit a Hip-Hop genre base; the actual music, the techniques and instruments used to form the composition differ and add that fundemental difference. I’m not a huge fan of Hip-Hop, and that of which I do like is often Funk and Rock infused, so for me to enjoy this and to genuinely wonder what’s coming next is no small thing.

The single is available on bandcamp for free (links to follow) and I have it on good authority that vocal mixes and collaborations are on their way, so keep an eye out.

Keep track of the project on Facebook, and listen and download for the FREE/name your price brackett  via the bandcamp profile.
