Falmouth based CapeFox was an early feature on Musically Fresh, impressing our founder Stefan Armitage almost immediately and indeed later myself when I came into the fold a few months later.

We do our best to keep an eye on those we have featured in the past on MF, so when CapeFox contacted us recently with his new project, which again like last single ‘Chan’, is a collaborative effort, I decided to take this one personally. *Intense stare*.

Musically CapeFox is an Experimental – Electronic Music artist, encompassing elements of Trip-Hop and Hip-Hop into the mix, producing slow, drawn-out, yet attractively chilled “soundtrack” music fit for almost any situation or form of media.

‘Fire’ is no different. CapeFox’s is very versatile and ‘Fire’ is proof of this, once again, it has been used as a backing for a dance film, entitled ‘Traces’, via Jemima Rose Dance who will be linked at the bottom of this article along with the video.

The video itself is abstract and captivating with it’s use of vivid natural and illustrated imagery along-side artistic film and dancing techniques and fits perfectly with CapeFox’s backing, which is in-turn not complete without the vocals of Bess Atwell, who will also be found further down.

Outside of the combined effort, ‘Fire’ boasts one of CapeFox’s strongest tracks yet. Whilst writing this and editing other Musically Fresh material, the track is been repeatedly played I don’t know how many times, each play with thoughts on where else ‘Fire’ could complement or find it’s place.

Personally, I’m not the most artistically minded of people and this is also not my usual choice of music but this track and the collaboration is nothing short of impressive and testament to what underground arts can produce.
