Codename Colin are a Ska-Punk band from Hertfordshire who formed in 2o11. Despite the interesting content found on their Youtube Channel which I will post later, the band have recently dropped their debut of sorts in the form of the aptly titled new single, ‘New Years Resolution’.

Ska-Punk is one of those Punk-Rock off shoots that is taken as seriously as it isn’t in both positive and negative terms. With Codename Colin however, there is but one thing in mind, to play fast, playful, upbeat and grin widening Ska-Punk music that will even get the most adamant miserable sods (like myself) out on the dance floor never to proclaim the words ‘I don’t do dancing’ ever again.

With their distinctly British sound the band carry all the Pop-Punk sensibility of [spunge] and New Riot with the simplistic, classic and by no means broken Ska flutter across electric strings.

This time of year is saturated in cliches and one-liners seldom remembered after their exclamation through drunk haze but with Ska-Punk such as this as a backing and a desire to write a genuinely positive song, Codename Colin have succeeded in not only putting a smile on my face, but likely a great many of you.

Now, in regard to what I found while browsing the band’s Youtube Channel. Have you ever wondered what the likes of Five and their single ‘Don’t Stop Moving’ would sound like covered in the style of British Ska-Punk? You have? – Click Here.

Personally though, it had to be the band’s cover of the Feeder classic, ‘Just A Day’, with a tribute to the song but also the famous fan video that accompanied it, enjoy!
