Recent times have been exciting for the Boston, Lincolnshire based four-piece The Ultraviolet. The band are preparing to release their debut EP entitled The Tales Of Our Youth on the 21st March 2017 and with that in mind after receiving a cheeky early listen of the EP we thought we’d put pen to paper.

Even after only hearing few of the band’s notes, the likes of Jimmy Eat World, Yellowcard, The Used and Taking Back Sunday spring to mind with the aforementioned’s Pop-Punk and Emo fuelled Alternative Rock clearly an influence from the get go.

But if that wasn’t enough, fellow noteworthy acts such as Feeder and Placebo are cited and can really be heard in a refreshing tribute in tracks such as ‘Signal Flare’ sat at number two, itself clearly one of best on the release with a more mature rounded Alt. Rock sound.

The above was the band’s first single and to those who may have heard later displays of sound before this will hear in hindsight a band that very expertly showcased what they were about, almost teasingly so in one solid track.

Now this isn’t a full review, more so a taster and introduction to a band set for big things but what I will say about this EP, is that it doesn’t over play melodic Pop-Punk and Emo sensibilities. Said stylistics exist as core elements, especially in the single ‘All I Need Is To Be Need’, but rather than oversaturate they compliment a harder sound with the emotionality the band emanate.

That said of course, if the those bitter sweet soaring feels (sorry, chorus’) are your penchant then you will certainly find something here, in another band doing credit to this new wave of British underground Alternative Rock.

The Ultraviolet have been working alongside The Artist Umbrella Agency who are really worth checking out simply for new music or if you yourself are in a band as they are always looking to work with new talent.

The Tales Of Our Youth is now available for pre-order on both bandcamp and iTunes, with that and all other information found below:
