Musically Fresh Meat
Well, it turns out trying to write an introduction for myself is a lot harder than I thought it would be. As I’m sure you’ll soon find out, I’d prefer to write about music than myself but here goes…
My name’s Robin, and I’ve been based in Somerset and Devon for most of my life. Right now I’m living in Bath and was introduced to the idea of writing for Musically Fresh by fellow Bathonian and writer, Matt, so here I am!
I’m a classically trained violinist and have now been playing for fifteen years. I also like to think I can play the piano, guitar, bass and ukelele (I’m really not very good). However, I most definitely cannot sing – except in the shower. Anyway, the point is that music has been my biggest passion throughout my life, so I’m hoping that through Musically Fresh I can impart my knowledge of music to you all and hope that nobody upstages me in the comments section.
I’m a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to writing (understatement of the year) so anything you read on here will likely have been written, re-written, scrapped, revived, lost, found, cried over, redone and finally finished… and then edited again. Once it has been through this process, it will become available for all you lovely people to read and enjoy.
As for what you can expect in my reviews (aside from the occasional terrible joke and a lot of bracketed asides), I really can’t say. My music taste is so eclectic that I could easily end up reviewing almost anything: Metal, Reggae, Drum and Bass, Hip Hop, Punk, Ska, Ska Punk, Jazz, Folk, Country, Country Folk Jazz, Country Folk Jazz Ska Punk, Dub Country Folk Metal Ska and Bass… Even – dare I say it – “Rock”. In all seriousness, I really will be reviewing all kinds, so be prepared for anything.
Well, I hope that’s enough to satisfy you all! To finish, I’ll leave you with a classic from The Doors – one that seems quite appropriate considering the weather as I’m finishing this.
