Time to ReFresh
Good day squire! I’m Alex, a new writer for Musically Fresh. I like metal. What of it?
Now that’s out of the way lets talk a little bit about me, myself and I.
I was raised by my parents in the middle of vast fields, all to a life with a 70’s/80’s soundtrack featuring everything from Meat Loaf to Dolly Parton. Being your typical adolescent without a cause however, I took an interest in educating myself with the likes of the Manic Street Preachers, all the way through to my teenage crush and heart break, Gallows.
Through bands and artists such as the aforementioned, I discovered how to find solace in a beasty riff, or the turn of a well crafted lyric (something important to me as a Literature student). Nothing can speak to the soul like a perfect song at a perfect moment.
There are two ways in which I have always found worth in music. The first and foremost for me (as an undying Nirvana fan), is the cathartic effect a piece of music has upon me; whether it be joyful, angry, melancholic or just damn right sultry. If I feel the feel, the musician has succeeded. The second measure of worth is as simple as it comes. Can I dance to it? To be fair there is little I won’t dance to after two pints, but still, for me this is pivotal. If there ain’t no groove, I ain’t interested.
These will be my judgements that I will be applying to music here. Take it or leave it.
So that’s it really. I am here and I hope to be here to stay. I leave you with this tasty slice of metal. Because well, METAL.
I’m looking forward to reading your reviews, as a regular reader and very un-regular commenter, i think a bit of metal won’t go amis
Gonna be a little while before I write about some metal, but I will have a couple of tasty slices of other things come Wednesday
