Bonnevillle, if you’re unaware, is the brain child of Isle Of Wight based Electronica artist Grant Smith. To date, two EPs have surfaced with music that if I remember rightly was described by “past me” as – ‘Groove for your move and chilled for your chill.’

Now, I apologise for that, but I thoroughly enjoy the versatility of Bonneville’s music. Some are more dance orientated, others more suited for a game or film soundtracks or those late night drives.

Punk-Rock ambitions perhaps? A semi-serious remark, but in full seriousness however, Bonneville’s instrumentals are accompanied by vocal samples in this one and they certainly pack a punch.

A touchy subject to say the least, whether you are from the USA or not. The samples are a collection of news reports and other quotes concerning recent Police Brutality towards American citizens that made global news.

It could be suggested to be controversial, as the artist is British but overall that shouldn’t matter, as music has always been a medium in this form of expression, from feelings to political thought and opinion.

Musically, (not forgetting that bit) a strong and very old school set of EDM is the backing for it and works perfectly. I’m not a huge fan of Electronic Music but Bonneville has delivered with this one, maybe news casts are the next direction for the project.
