From the ever-legendary and beautiful city of Athens comes Fliptop Box, a Progressive Metal five-piece formed in 2003.

Since inception the band have received an amazing response from their peers and rightly so, they’ve nailed the border between the 80’s Thrash reaching into the melodic aftermath of the early 90’s.

Kicking in with some tasty riffage and unpredictable time signatures, ‘Blast’ introduces us to their 2016 release Catch 22.

Athens (not to be confused with 90s Indie capital of the world located in Georgia) seems to be the place for Hard Rock and Metal, with the exception of Imam Baildi (Google them) Fliptop Box would present an appropriate soundtrack for gladiators marching into the Coliseum!

On a personal note, I believe it’s important for an artist to be more than their chosen field. In the case of a musician it’s not enough to write a few songs and stick them together; one needs to think bigger.

A great album would have a continuous tone throughout while maintaining diversity. The imagery from the sleeve to the promo shots would reflect said tone thus creating not only the music but another world that invites the listener into the artist’s mind and Fliptop Box have done just that.
