Jack The Envious – The ‘Begging For More’ Single.
Jack The Envious – London, England, United Kingdom.
Jack is very envious but is also in a band, a band that as a collective produces organised collections of cohesive sound known as songs that sit somewhere between early 2000’s Post-Hardcore, dark-sounding contemporary Pop-Punk and jagged Metalcore orientated riffage.
The band have thus far the 2016 debut full-length Pull You Down as well as some interesting and varied covers from the likes of Oasis, The Ghost Inside and even Gorillaz. This debut can be likened to many in the emotive world of crossing Pop-Punk and Emo tendencies into heavier styles, with names such as A Day To Remember, Sleeping With Sirens, Pierce The Veil coming to mind as well as far more dated examples such as Finch and Funeral For A Friend.
The band are on the path to now releasing their new EP and second release as a follow up with the new single ‘Begging For More’ taking point.
With ‘Begging For More’ after a playful flutter of strings, a driven and melodic rhythm leaves elusions of a heavier track before we are taken back to the starting line for verses that build to a very much classic chorus for the band.
The verses themselves favour the lighter side of the band’s sound and build very well into the soaring chorus which carries only one criticism in that the line ‘on the way down singing‘ takes the otherwise well-made Emo chorus a little far.
‘Begging For More’ forsakes the band’s heavier tendencies for the most part in favour of a more rhythmic Pop-Punk led track which could either be for the purpose of balancing the EP from forthcoming heavier material or something of a departure.
But that, that is a story for another time and until then good luck getting this one out of your memory banks, as another band in the strong and growing UK scene lengthens it’s stride.
