ReVerbed – ‘Another Year, Still Here’ EP
ReVerbed – Brighton, England, United Kingdom.
Brighton based ReVerbed have just released their new EP, initially a ten-track album, Another year, Still Here, underwent something of an evolution:
‘In the summer of 2014 we locked ourselves away and wrote 10 tracks. However after demoing and then recording all of these tracks in our home studio we came to the decision that there were 4 standout tracks that we all preferred and would class as the ‘singles’. We decided to go with a 4 track EP that we all felt were killer, and all believed in rather than a half-baked 10 track album.’
The band’s sound, if you are unfamiliar, is for the most part a harder-edged, punkier and rockier blend of UK Pop-Punk, with enough riffage to keep those not necessarily in to the genre or those with a taste for the darker side, well satisfied.
Have a taster before we get on:
‘Breathe In Breathe Out’ makes good use of both George and Zoe’s vocals, which sound as good individually as they do harmonised. It’s a slower number, but is grabbing enough not to be forgotten.
‘Bury Me’ brings in another jagged mid-paced riff-show in it’s intro and verses, with some tasty Pop-Punk melodies in the chorus to round things off.
However, it’s the next on the menu, ‘Keep Me In Your Eyes’, that steals the show.
‘Keep Me In Your Eyes’, sees the band at it’s most melodic. ReVerbed have a knack for well executed guitar melodies, which combined with their rockier side, sits them apart slightly from other Pop-Punk bands. Track three is a fine example of the this knack and is also arguably the best of the release.
The finale is your ballad. You knew this was coming, it’s a Pop-Punk thing. Anyway, although a slower number, the melodic and well crafted guitar melodies are back again, and in general with the whole release, track four could be said to suggest a newer direction for the band.
All this could just be me however, and nobody listens to what I think.
