Remember the golden age of 90’s Punk? Gritty Pop-Punk that hadn’t lost it’s bite, fast and melodic Skate Punk that stayed stuck in your head for days? You do? Fantastic, enter CUT UP.

Formed in San Francisco in 2012, and showcasing a very much classic but at the same time refreshing Cali-Punk sound, the band have a handful of recordings on bandcamp and are currently hard at work on a debut album, which personally I can’t wait for.

Influences: ‘Jawbreaker, Dead To Me, The Lawrence Arms, Choking Victim, Banner Pilot, Lagwagon, No Use For A Name, Operation Ivy, Dillinger Four, Crimpshrine, Daggermouth, old Blink-182′

I won’t lie, both releases have made it on to my personal “Best Of” list for 2015, but enough rambling for now, it’s time to do the band some justice.

‘I’m trying to forget, it’s just another night’

Fast, melodic and upbeat as much as it is fist in the air worthy with it’s honesty, the above is a great example of the band’s sound. Their influences speak for themselves, real emotions, real rhythms and Punk-Rock spirit.

Speaking of influences, upon discovering the band and reading they were influenced by ‘old Blink-182‘, I raised an eyebrow, but then I heard ‘Pacific Grove’ and that was settled. Imagine ‘Carousel’ with a bigger pair of bollocks.

Hearts of gold can’t unfold if they’ve lost what they believe in and this place has a way of leaving us defeated – the weight of the world crashing down on my shoulders, is starting to bury me…’

The US underground scene is one I do try to keep an eye on, despite the fact that I’m British and currently living in Australia… CUT UP were actually found via a recommendation of a good friend of mine Stateside, vocalist of Denver, Colorado band, The Larimers.

A band who, if you are enjoying CUT UP so far, warrant your attention – Facebook//bandcamp//Our Review.

To finish off, the last track CUT UP aired to the public in October 2015, is entitled ‘Daybreak’ and is my personal favourite. A real fist-in-the-air, slightly darker number, that does real credit to melodic Punk-Rock. Listen below and check out the band via the following links.
