We’re an honest bunch at Musically Fresh, and we don’t mind admitting the majority of our ‘Fresh Picks’ articles have focussed on Punk-Rock and it’s various brothers, sisters and cousins and that’s fantastic!
But at the same time, we decided to break the chain and what better than to do so in a relaxing manner.
Enter Sheffield Post-Rock project, Wanderer.
Post-Rock and Post-Metal have been genre’s I’ve been exploring for a while now. Many of the variations encountered of both styles of music has left mixed results, with infusions from Post-Hardcore, Black Metal, Crust Punk and more.
Wanderer however are something of the more relaxed and almost ‘classic’ example of Post-Rock. Chilled, ambient and Instrumental it’s exactly what you want on a long walk, through a deserted woodland or any beautiful landscape.
The above, ‘When The Clouds Clear’, is the longest track on the album, but personally took me the furthest. Blah blah idyllic blah blah, found myself…
Jokes aside, this project may only be in it’s infantile stages but in all honesty, if they are already making music as beautiful as the marine exploration of ‘Deep Blue’ or the contemplative soundtrack of ‘Estranged’ or quite frankly any of the recorded works, there’s some fantastic stuff on the horizon.
