With a sound sat somewhere between old school Hardcore Punk and the raspy end of modern melodic Punk and Melodic Hardcore, Darlington based In Evil Hour have been making ‘[…] noise and shouting about things you probably don’t care about‘ and releasing it since 2012.

The last EP, Built On Our Backs, explored their strong socio-political angle further, contrasting well with the slightly more melodic route the band took musically. The great thing about the release was that despite the melodic edge, the band managed to maintain their Punk-Rock fury and aggression and have their point stand far more prominently.

‘Paveway IV’ is the latest from the four-piece and having been aware of the band for sometime now and having been lucky enough to catch them live, it’s no small thing to see them going from strength to strength.

As stated above the band’s leftist politics have never been far from the forefront but in recent releases seem to have intensified in direct reaction to the planet the band inhabit and in this case, the bombs dropped on it and the pseudo-alliances made.

Musically, the bands harder edged older material seeps through and blends perfectly with the prior releases melodies into something easily comparable to their cited influences of Rise Against, Ignite, Leatherface, Bad Religion and Black Flag.

If ‘Paveway IV’ is any indication of where the band are going next, then it may well be fair to say the band might have just perfected their approach or may well do with the next release. We’ll be watching.
