It seems we have US-influenced London-borne Rock for you today MFers, as a short time ago I received this total beat of a chill track in the form of ‘I Am What I Am’, the latest single from four lads “done-good”, Hunter & The Bear. ‘I Am What I Am’ was released earlier this month in a long line of singles in anticipation for their debut album due early 2017.

Acting as a departure from their earlier more driven energetic sound and choosing to branch out into a ballad, the track tells me next year’s album has something new to offer.

Through my ears, ‘I Am What I Am’ takes me to the sound honed by the US influence of late Power-Pop crossing over into Country territory. Which of course by todays standards are the same thing but you purists know what I’m talking about, the (we’ll call it old school) sound of southern hospitality coming to the UK then adopted by the likes of Snow Patrol and early Coldplay.

Forming in 2012 and spanning from each corner of this unstable nation, Hunter & The Bear and have managed some impressive feats to date, such as touring with Eric Clapton and soon to be headlining the famous assembly in Camden on Dec 1st, a day before Kaiser Chiefs (you remember those guys… right?).

‘I Am What I Am’ is out now and with the band’s debut album due appropriately in Spring time, it will make for the perfect anticipation for summer.
