Every once in a while, outside of the regular requests we receive from bands, artists, labels and PR companies, we do our best to scribble a few words on bands that have made a lasting impression on us.

Fire At Will are such a band that captured my attention in this way and they are band whose most recent back record Life Goes On has truthfully not left my ears this last week. Now it is true the band have an impressive back catalogue but for today we will briefly focus on the album that has truly captured my attention in such a way that I hope you will indeed find your own indefinitely ensnared.

With the brief taster that is the eponymous track of this latest Punk and Hardcore Catharsis, you are treated to a sound that only matures and solidifies itself as the album proceeds. The band’s Punk sound crosses into Hardcore territory through the old-school, the Melodic and the Post(Hardcore) prompting me to compare them to the likes of fellow French Punks Hightower, Rise Against, After The Fall, Much The Same and Touche Amore.

Life Goes On truthfully breaks no new ground, the slight Post-Hardcore stylistics are just that, as are any other slight infusions taken from the Punk-Rock tree but in all, this is no issue.

Tracks such as the above carry melodic guitar lines and chord progressions that fans of any vein of melodic Punk music will inwardly croon over.  The then slower thud of Hardcore/Post-Hardcore numbers such as ‘Nice Guys Finish Last’ are less populace but create a needed contrast.

‘Don’t Take It For Granted’ takes a far more upbeat approach upbeat Lifetime-esque Hardcore tempo with a melodic Skate Punk aesthetic in a way that again creates a needed contrast but also shows a lighter tone to Fire At Will.

I personally can’t wait for whatever comes next and I hope you are in the same boat. Find the band and KROD records below:
