Late Nights – The ‘Never Right’ Single.

Late Nights – Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

These days a band getting back into the swing and or groove of things is something I am always happy to see, for any ill feeling or sadness begotten by a band or their fans when a hiatus or significant time-lapse infects their existence is negated and swiftly replaced with drive and positive feeling.

This is where the Melbourne-based Late Nights come in. The band recently released their latest single after a considerable period of sonic-silence and that single is the nostalgic but also mature and weighted-Pop-Punk track ‘Never Right’. The track hits all the tones of contemporary emotive Pop-Punk but takes things a little slow via dated Emo croons and Alternative Rock weight with hints of heavier tones.

From the deep bass rumble lifted somewhere from the melodic Punk 90’s to the backing harmonies taking tuneful Emo from just a little way down the timeline, ‘Never Right’ is addictive. The band can do fast, they can do upbeat but in ‘Never Right’ they’ve crafted a mature song that carries just enough youthful exuberance to keep it inline with their majoritively Pop-Punk sound. In fact, based on this song alone, they could easily continue down the route of the heavier, lower and more mature sound as much as they could easily fall back on buzzsaw guitars and classic Pop-Punk pace.

But that’s just what I think, lets see what they do next eh?
