A band finally feeling comfortable within themselves via their own opinion and that of their increasing listener-base, Triple Sundae recently released their most recent EP via London label Umlaut Records. The band are sonically sat somewhere between the fast and jagged 90’s Punk music with its apparently limitless legacy, the honesty of heart-Punks Lifetime and a tendency to lean towards the world of contemporary UK Pop-Punk.

A strong English accent greets you in the lead single ‘Indecisive’ as it battles for control over the pummelling drums and low-ridden rhythms flirting with either end of the Pop-Punk spectrum. The pace subsides for a shout-worthy chorus where the band go for the cumbersome rather than the light flutter so common in the choruses in this vein. Quite unexpectedly the band slow down and tone down the intense vocal delivery briefly enough for a pop-inclined flutter before another pummelling Punk drive and sing-a-long chorus resumes the now norm.

In short, the first single was chosen well.

After such an in-EP thrill-ride, ‘Soul Control’ takes a turn for a vintage down-tempo New Found Glory riff playfully and unashamedly Pop-Punk with the only real link to the last track being the weight of it all and the disinterested yet soulful vocal tone. ‘Soul Control’ is another well written and cathartic track, a catharsis that presents itself from the 1:50 point more so where the track begins to sound more like the band from ‘Indecisive’, on the whole taking a weaker track (in context and sonically) to being better than just good with a welcome 90’s melodic Punk charge.

‘Fabricated’ (again) playfully plys the likes of Pulley with further dated Pop-Punk in the freshest way possible with a playful (and again) line that is infectious from the first note. ‘Fabricated’ is the story of a young person battling our old friend anxiety and its dictator-status and prowess when we are caught at our most vulnerable. Peace Of Mind is an EP well-written and ridden in bare-all honesty and isn’t that what Punk is about regardless of the subject matter?

Triple Sundae is a name that has done the rounds in the UK Punk and Pop-Punk scene and a name that will be doing said rounds for a bit longer yet.
