You sit and listen to any of the releases via the Canterbury two-piece Holy Pinto and you sit relaxed, surprised but comfortable that they tick as many boxes as they do. Release #5 is actually well on its way on June 22nd of this year so in all realistic concise advice, you should probably get acquainted.

While you’ll here I’ll give you a few nibbles worth of bait before you head off and before we both get acquainted with the new single ‘Gold Leaf’. The band shamelessly and playfully litter the floor with their heartfelt lyrics and honest approach, as heavily English accented-vocals softly hammer the point home as you sit and take it all in. Musically the band clearly have a penchant for Pop-Punk via their melodies and injections of tempo and also add a welcome albeit slight Folk Punk-ism from time to time that is oh so welcome.

This wing of the band’s sound is again joined by something enabled by the stark vocals, that being their Indie Rock foundation in a symbiotic relationship with stylistic Pop and Punk-isms. In short, they fit so many theoretically bills that you’d be a fool not to indulge, which is where ‘Gold Leaf’ comes in.

Holy Pinto falls back on playful Indie-Pop with a chorus that knows exactly what it is doing as it annexes your ear-canal. ‘Gold Leaf’ is thoughtful song, it battles itself and its dreams alongside other commitments and I imagine more than one touring musician will resonate instantaneously.

‘Gold Leaf’ is a Pop-song and a good one at that. Perhaps more importantly given the band’s past work, ‘Golf Leaf’ not only shows a band at their best and the stronger-end of their Pop-orientated material but sits as the best they could have chosen to entice prior June 22nd, which will be accompanied by a mammoth tour of the UK and Europe!
