Our Divinity – The Debut ‘Intoxication’ Single.

Our Divinity – Liverpool, England, United Kingdom.

With clear influence from the days of early Linkin Park on one hand and the Metalcore early 2000’s on the other, Liverpool‘s Our Divinity and their ultimately melodic sound cumbersome Rock sound is out in force on their very well produced debut single, ‘Intoxication’.

‘Intoxication’ takes us back to the days where Meteora-esque sharp and down-tempo intros were accompanied by a well-placed eerie yet not negatively repetitive tone soaring far above. Almost instantly the band-written but session-played bass-line with its obtuse but unashamed tin-like tone accompanies Zara Saunder’s heartfelt vocals from verse to chorus, as it moves from standing apart towards a huge cohesive chorus. At this point the band’s listed influences of both latter-day Bring Me The Horizon and Halestorm are more obvious and well founded as they continue to gain more comfortability.

‘Intoxication’ is tightly organised and flows naturally. The band subtly flirt with harder metallic riffs throughout and allow this to reach boiling point with the stripped down Metalcore-esque break-downs before setting up the final cathartic admittance of a the damage done by a past love.

Our Divinity have shown themselves as best they can, as much as they can over this debut track. They have hinted at prospective stylistics subtly without risking sounding too convoluted and desperate to simply show-off which is risk often run with debut singles. ‘Intoxication’ hints and a band that will likely explore softer, harder and indeed more up-tempo climes in the future so it might well be worth sticking around.

Trainer tip; it is.
