Earlier this year the St. Albans based BROCKER released the aptly titled ‘Gimme Gimmie Some Rock n’ Roll’ along with b-side ‘Incontrolable’, boasting another slice of their melodic Punk-Rock and charged classic Rock n’ Roll, their first studio releases since 2013’s Out Of Order.

The band have also recently collaborated with an early feature of MF by the name of Jesus Hooligan, in a charity single with all funds going towards UK charity ‘Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis’, who can be found – Here. The single is a cover of the Ramones classic ‘Blitzkreig Bop’ and will be posted at the end.

The benefit of releasing b-sides alongside mainline singles is that a comparison can be made and in this case, BROCKER have brought two different cards to the table.

‘Gimmie Gimmie Rock n’ Roll’ is in reality, nothing new. From the initial drumbeat, you know exactly what you are getting but whether that is a bad thing is entirely based on personal taste. For BROCKER Fans, it’s a refined version of the reason they ended up fans of the band in the first place, with its choppy-classic Rock n’ Roll sleaze and crowd pleasing chorus.

There’s nothing wrong with it sonically, at all in fact, as it’s an enjoyable number, but one nonetheless that does what it says on the tin, by simply giving you some Rock n’ Roll.

Personally and critically speaking, it’s the b-side, ‘Incontrolable’ is a bit of game-changer, sitting closer in sound to the fast anthemic Punk-Rock of Out Of Order.

Despite holding some strong stylistics akin to the figurehead of the release, it isn’t long before the vocals come into themselves and feel more at home atop of melodic Punk than they did on the previous, which would have benefitted from slightly harder-edged vocal tones.

At ‘Incontrolable’s’ mid point, a strong and melodic lead spirals into a very much classic Punk but well executed and anthemic solo, that sits comfortably within the up-tempo rhythms that have by now wormed their way into your head and planted hopes of this track making it onto the next release.
