Hummer, a band we have seen before another band gracing (though I’m sure they wouldn’t use those words) the stage at the 19th May extravaganza that is the free all-dayer via Some Kind Of Events.

If you’ve been keeping up with these little promotion ramblings I/we have been publishing this past month or so then you know of a bill diverse but a bill with penchant for Pop-Punk melody and also of a bill that has its feelers of feeling the feels of heavier climes. Enter Hummer.

The band’s first EP (that you can find an early MF feature on – Here) showcased a melodic and hook laden band that also imported much in the way of Alternative Rock weight, the fuzz-like Post-Hardcore-rooted Punk of Hot Water Music, the buzzsaw approach of The Lawrence Arms or the dreary but addictive gloom of Leatherface.

Musically Fresh has been lucky enough to hear the band’s latest album ahead of its release via Horn & Hoof Records this coming 30/3/18 and with this all-dayer not too far prior to release I would expect the band to be cheekily teasing the new songs live.

The band are certainly bringing the Punk with this new EP and within moments of ‘Daisies’ you are hook, line and sinker in the band’s humour-laden but bleak realistic Punk outlook. Budweiser and Butter fear not is still a fun record however so do continue to jitter on the edge of your seat until the 30th. A few words from the band:

‘We’re Hummer – three embittered late-twentysomethings from Warrington who usually sing about either being p****d-off, being p****d, or a combination of the two! […]

[…] Having played Liverpool a couple of times we know it’s always fun – a great city with a great scene; there’s some cracking bands on the May 19th SKO all-dayer, several of whom we’ve played with before at least once and are good mates with (even those lovable loons in Bear Trap!). The fact that it’s also free is just the icing on the cake (or should I say the doughnut? Dean will get that one…)’

Oh, what is this? A new track? How did that get there?

Hummer are band that in all seriousness and sheer lack of at the same time, have the Punk-Rock game well and truly down. If you are looking for a band that take their craft seriously (there’s that word again), are adept at doing so and can craft intelligent cathartic Punk-Rock music and still have fun doing so, then they are you band.

And if a whole host of stellar underground and hard working bands are for you, go to The 27 Club in Liverpool on the 19th May.
