With a new EP entitled Blank Slates EP set for release at the end of this month, Sydney Punks The Phosphorus Bombs have treated us or rather made a move to entice us with their new single ‘A Bruise’.

Much like the UK and Canada, in recent years Australia is producing some excellent and relentlessly fast Skate Punk bands and this where you find The Phosphorus Bombs, as they twist this with a welcome  injection of classic Hardcore Punk to contrast their stellar melodic leaning and already abrasive Skate Punk with vicious and visceral crunching riffs and snarling vocals.

Here The Phosphorus Bombs rage against what society has become, about how the relentless onslaught of modern life constantly over-encumbers what little space is left to occupy and defend. A space to defend that in the specific case of this song, is under attack from the issue of contemporary sexual harassment as the band show their support for the #MeToo movement of recent times, choosing a serious issue an a stylistic way that fittingly displays the rage against such conduct.

But it doesn’t end there, the band give way to their more melodic and vintage influences with a relentlessly executed back-to-back blended cover of Bad Religion‘s ‘I Want To Conquer The World’ which then instantly gives way to the aptly titled ‘Modern Man’ as much as it does intertwine, making the bands A-side point all the more real.

The Blank Slates EP is set for release 28/06/18 .
