Deh-Yey and The ‘Death and Politics’ Single.

Deh-Yey – Chester, England, United Kingdom.

Admittedly, there isn’t a lot to go on in regard to quantity when it comes to the Chester two-piece Deh-Yey but it is rather a case of the quality of said quantity alongside a healthy dose of thick vicious and viscous dirgey-groove. Technical term that.

What do I mean? Well the band’s latest single is very much this quality across the board. Deh-Yey have a sonic presence respective of a band twice the size and an issue to boot. ‘Death and Politics’ gives its account of American gun culture politics and the news headlines oh so common and how even after every occurrence, nothing ever really changes no matter the post-event unity.

Thick Blues Rock riffs are utterly enveloped in reverb and are in a way still somehow melodic and also quite notably despite the stripped format, well layered and intricate. Deh-Yey are cohesive and tight without losing the recklessness of their deep and dark heavy Rock n’ Roll which brings us on to another important albeit brief point, the sheer deceptive heaviness of Deh-Yey is utterly staggering, playful, addictive and repeat.

Deh-Yey do leave you at a loss however as you wonder on what will comprise their eventual numerically significant release but not negatively I might add. ‘Death and Politics’ shows the band’s lyrical bite and aggression quite obviously but also their again brief but notable experiment with a faster pace and increasingly low ridden heavy riffs. Needless to say, they have a lot to explore and I wouldn’t mind a spot on the expedition.
