Over Time are a band from Denver/Brighton Colorado and a band with many healthy obsessions I’m sure, however it is but two that are remotely relevant as of this sentence. Over Time enjoy the melodic and moody Melodic Hardcore and Post-Hardcore of the early 2000’s but also the golden age of Pop-Punk and Skate Punk that was the 24 karat 90’s Punk scene.

The band’s first EP – Chances, was very much an emotive thrill-ride doing it’s cathartic best relative to it’s small four-track stature, to imbue this interesting crossover to a point where it was addictive. *Spoiler alert* it was and indeed is.

‘Stay Inside’ was released at the tail-end of June likely ahead of whatever the band have cooking and in many ways is a continuation of the previous EP. Continuation and refinement. ‘Stay Inside’ takes the slow-to-mid tempo approach from 50% of Chances’ genealogy alongside a healthy dose of Pop-Punk melodies and dare-I-say ever-so slightly Emo-esque delivery.

‘Stay Inside’ is a track that could have easily been the product of Funeral For A Friend or any of the other Emo-Post-Hardcore heavyweights from back in the day when Pop-Punk was beginning chop-and-change it’s roots to varying degrees, either that or began to embrace other styles and/or infect them.

But that isn’t the whole story! You listen to the band’s debut EP and then this latest single and you know exactly what they are up to. This is a Punk-Rock band, still heavy, still fast but comfortable enough within both of those to play with around with a more Pop-Punk-led approach and it’s safe to say that they have pulled it off.

Over Time are another band to watch in a regional scene that never fails to dissappoint.
